Flex v2.1.0.0 released

Dear customers,

Considering priorities and your own interests, we decided to delay a little bit BDM protocol release to provide you something more important and recent.
For this reason version 2.1.0.0 will include new bench and boot tricore protocols as well as TCU bench protocols (known on X17 as clone/restore protocols)!

For your comfort, we highlighted the new protocols which are not present in X17. For each of the migrated protocols from X17 to Flex there are improvements, though, thus we advise you to have a careful read at the following general explanation before looking at the release list:

Bench for Tricore based TCUs:

What is that?: those protocols allow full read and full write of the TCU, including each of the memories stored inside the transmission control unit without any encryption.

What is different from X17?: as X17, it just doesn’t require to open the control unit, while allowing exactly the same functions as a regular boot mode. Tuning, clone, bypassing security and restoring backup are no issue at all. What is different is the fact that files are non encrypted and that the speed has been generally been improved. Furthermore, you do not need to make any ignition switch, as Flexbox will take care of it! This has increased the success rate of “Connect” step, which in X17 may have given issues due to timing.

How much does it take?: Reading times have been tested from 2 to 3 minutes in total, depending on ECU model. Writing times depend on actual size of modification inside file, from few seconds to about 9 minutes.

Which module do I need to buy?: if you are a previous owner of X17 or TCU Manager, this protocol is totally free of charge once you receive your Flex. For anyone else, it is included in our TCU OBD/Bench module. It is possible to purchase a new master Flex witn this protocol for 2200€ + VAT.

Software Improvements:

• Bench Bosch Tricore: Reading and writing speed improved even further. Generally 2 minutes are enough to read or write now.
• Button names have been changed to more simple Int Flash, Int EEPROM, Ext Flash and Ext EEPROM.
• Manual viewer: function to rotate the connector has been added. Try it!
• Manual viewer: general improvement to functionment
• VAG BOSCH MED17.5.21 TC1782: added support for version 2 of ECU (different pinout)

Bug fixes:

• “No Manual” text is no longer appearing during manual downloading. Instead, a loading progress bar will be shown.
• XROM support for Bosch MEDC17 has been added. Relative protocols have been readded.

Known issues:

• Firefox: In some cases, users of Firefox browser might save 0 bytes files when reading. We are checking the issue, but Firefox should not be used for now, till we confirm bug has been found and solved.

333 vehicles have been added with this release. Flex now supports 1832 vehicles!
